From "The 473 Reasons I'm Glad I Don't Have to Move" (Part III)

Reason #306: Since I had cleared my weekend (besides Passover seder with the family last night) for the possibility I might have to spend much of it hustling around Brooklyn looking for a one bedroom apartment that I could afford and didn't make me ill with the thought of living in it, I instead got a little more sleep than I would have otherwise, had a nice, relaxed dinner with my friend Brandyne (even managed to stay kosher for Passover at a Mexican restaurant!), now have a slightly cleaner apartment, and also caught up on my Friends page for the first time in months.

All of the Days of My Life

Dan Fogelberg died today of prostate cancer, at the far too young age of 56. It shouldn't affect me this much.

Ha!

The mystery of the missing "House" DVD is solved. At Dad's request, Mom dug out their Scrabble set this weekend, and lo and behold, season one of "House" was underneath.

This is nice because it not only gets me my DVDs back (after they finally finish watching the last couple of episodes), it also gives me a good six months or so where my parents can't say anything about my organizational skills. ;-)

A Hard Landing

"When you get to the end of all the light you know and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly."
- Edward Teller
And sometimes you need the ground to rise up to meet you again for a hard landing, in order to understand that faith is not enough, dreams rarely come true, and too often - really, more often than we'd care to admit - the answer is no.

Here's the Thing...

...I managed a few days ago to spend some time catching up on my LJ Friends page, to the point where I was only about a week behind. But now that another few days have passed, I'm about ten days behind again. I'm leaving the country for two weeks tomorrow, with limited internet access over those two weeks - and I almost certainly won't have time in the next 24 hours, while preparing for my trip (at the last minute, natch), to catch up on the last ten days.

So it's pretty much inevitable at this point that I'm going to miss a big chunk of time in there. I think I'll manage to come to terms with it, as long as people understand that I wasn't "ignoring" them or something when I miss proffered news or a posed question. I've always preferred that my LJ Friends not rely on LJ to convey an important message anyway - so this is just as good a time as any to reiterate that. If there's news you wish me to know about or something on which you want my opinion, especially if it's time sensitive, you have my e-mail address and/or my phone number.
